Grimm, a scholar who has spent 25 years studying Hals's work, is even more specific. a046t.jpgDESCRIPTION: Unstated FIRST EDITION, Carl Rungius: Artist & Sportsman, c. 2001 The Glenbow Museum, Warwick Publ. New condition, crease in dj on the front. During his lifetime, artist Carl Rungius (1869-1959) enjoyed a reputation similar to that of well-known western painter Frederic Remington. Though interest in his depictions of the wildlife and awesome landscapes of the west declines after his death, growing fascination with our wilderness heritage is bringing Rungius back into the public eye. Rungius tended toward realism in his depiction of wildlife, he did some commercial illustration work for the magazine Field and Stream and paintings for the New York Zoological Society, but he also experimented with contemporary brushwork. Though his training was European, Rungius worked to develop a palette that would better convey the striking contrasts of light and color peculiar to the mountains and prairies of North America. The publication of this book coincides with a travelling exhibit created by the Glenbow Museum of Calgary, Alberta.

a049t.jpgDESCRIPTION: New condition, hardcover coffee table book with dj. Bronze by Ekserdjian David, Royal Academy of Arts, c. 2012. This sumptuous catalogue examines bronze's earliest beginnings in North Africa, the Middle East and China, as it left behind tools and weaponry to become a fine-art material. Leading authorities chart the virtuosity of artists in ancient Greece and Rome; later developments in Asia and Africa; bronze's great flowering in the European Renaissance in the hands of such figures as Ghiberti, Donatello and Cellini; and its use in the modern era by artists from Rodin and Picasso to Brancusi and Bourgeois.

a050t.jpgDESCRIPTION: Two historical music hardcovers. 1) New condition, Crossroads: The Experience Music Project Collection, c. 2000, editor Chris Bruce. A very well crafted historical review of popular music frequently referred to as Rock and Roll. From its early roots to its latest manifestations, this book covers the gamut. As such it is a companion piece to the Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle, and if you can't get to Seattle, this book would at least give you a flavor of what awaits you there. Well written, with beautiful art and photos from electric music roots in 1935 through today. It succeeds in connecting the lineage in words and pictures. 2) The History of Western Music, fifth edition by Donald Jay Grout and Claude V. Palisca. W.W. Norton & Co., c. 1996.
